BeaconLit began life in 2013 as a half-day book festival squeezed into some dead time in Ivinghoe Summer Festival's marquee on Ivinghoe Lawn. Our purpose was, and remains, to raise much needed funds for the library that serves the village communities surrounding Ivinghoe Beacon in the Chilterns.
That small festival spawned a full-day event that has taken place every year apart from 2020. We are most grateful for Brookmead School, Ivinghoe, for becoming our regular home. We are run and staffed entirely by volunteers, and perhaps it's this local pulling together that creates the warm, village atmosphere that authors and audiences alike seem to love.
At the same time, we are proud of our reputation as a high quality event that attracts best sellers, exciting new authors, and a wealth of eclectic talent from the book world. If you love books, whether as a reader, a writer or both, you're sure to love BeaconLit!
